Casa Design has returned from Milan’s Salone del Mobile 2017 with news of exciting launches from our vast roster of international brands. This year’s fair was one of the most impressive exhibitions to date, boasting a record number of programs, events, and exhibitors. Up-and-coming trends were evident: woven rope, belting, and fringe, richly-hued velvets, mobiles, mixed marbles, and tons of terrazzo! It would be impossible to recount every exciting design and detail, so we’ve narrowed it down to our “Top 10” favorite new designs from Milan Design Week 2017.
The Kurage Paper Light was a collaboration between Japanese designer Oki Sato, from the design studio, Kendo, and Italian designer Luca Nichetto. The lamp was designed with the idea of “paper ice cream” at its foundation, resulting in a very simple study in shape and form.
The months after Salone del Mobile 2014 are always exciting as we get to put the newest furnishings, fixtures, and technology to work in our clients’ homes and businesses. Our favorite Foscarini products included floor, wall, and suspension lamps.
Italian lighting designer Foscarini continues to produce contemporary lighting that is known for its beauty and ethereal innovative qualities. The Rituals collection is a new take on the ancient Japanese lantern, which has been used in Japan for day to day living, and for sacred traditions like the lantern lighting rituals that take place during the Obon festival.
We can’t help but have a fond place in our hearts for Foscarini, they were part of what drew the attention of The Best of Boston Home our way. However, even without the honor of “Best Lighting,” we appreciate the artistry and whimsy found in Foscarini’s contemporary lighting fixtures. The Rituals collection, designed by L+R Palomba is exemplary of these two traits.
Now that summer is almost here, we decided it was time for Casa Design to open up our own outdoor patio for clients and guests. The team here at Casa Design is excited to open Casa Outdoor in July. Casa Outdoor will be located directly across the street from our current showroom at 450 Harrison Ave.
When it comes to contemporary lighting Boston, Casa Design is “The Best!” You don’t have to take our word for it. Casa Design is the winner of “Best Lighting” in Boston Magazine‘s Winter 2013 issue, featuring Best of Boston Home. It paid homage to our owner, Zhanna Drogobetsky for her attention to everything illuminated.
Check out the photos of Google’s Zurich Headquarters in that we recently came across on the interior design and architecture blog freshome. The spaces was designed by Swiss architecture firm Camenzind Evolution and features lots of colorful furnishings and accessories that create a cool vibe and certainly a fun and inspiring work environment.
We have professed our love for Foscarini light fixtures many times here on our blog, and we must say that we absolutely love one of the newer and more unique designs Foscarini has created – the Anisha Lamp.
